Dr. Naseem Salahuddin Passed Away on May 28, 2026

Pakistan’s Infectious Diseases and Microbiology community mourns the sudden demise of Prof. Dr. Naseem Salahuddin. She was a remarkable human being, a legendary teacher, and the pioneer who established the specialty of Infectious Diseases in Pakistan. Dr. Salahuddin led national efforts for a rabies-free Pakistan, served on WHO’s Rabies Expert Advisory Panel since 2004, and built major free, high-quality care programs for HIV and TB. She also founded and supported education initiatives for underprivileged children in Karachi through the Citizens’ Education Development Foundation. A beacon of compassion, humility, and selfless service, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the values she instilled, and the humanity she carried with grace.
